Built and opened in 1995, Hope Horseshoe Club is an indoor/outdoor horseshoe pitching facility. HOPE is an acronym for the club's official name, Horseshoes Of Pittsburgh Enterprises.
Horseshoes is an outdoor game played between two people (or two teams of two people) using four horseshoes and two stakes. The game is played by the players alternating turns tossing horseshoes at stakes in the ground, which are traditionally placed 40 feet apart. Modern games use a more stylized U-shaped bar, about twice the size of an actual horseshoe.
The facility features 4 indoor and 9 outdoor courts built specifically for the horseshoe pitching enthusiasts in the area.
Open horseshoe pitching is offered to anyone who would like to enjoy the facility at a fee or free to any member of the club at any time. Membership is open to anyone interested in joining the club and a monthly fee is required.
National sanctioned horseshoe tournaments (Through the National Horseshoe Pitching Assoication)are held at the club through out the year at least once a month.
