The Schooner Youth Center is a non-profit, grass-roots, church-led collaborative effort designed to enrich the social, spiritual and cultural values of the youth and families in Monessen, Pennsylvania.
Monessen is a small town of 8,700 people in rural Westmoreland County and was once a steel-making center. Monessen was named for the Monongahela River and the German city of Essen.
The Schooner Center is housed in former Catholic church. It offers a spectrum of youth and family programs coordinated by faith-based and private non-profits committed to providing safe and enriching community programs and activities. It is owned and operated by the Orchard Christian Fellowship, a contemporary Fundamentalist church.
The center is open weekdays 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and at other times depending on the program.
