Catherine Thomas Theatre is a 636-seat auditorium renovated in 2007 with the help of Act One Theater School. It features new lighting, a new sound system, upholstered seating, air conditioning and dressing rooms making it an ideal venue for musical and dramatic performances.
The theater is part of the St. Benedictine Senior Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a variety of services to people age 60 and older. direct access to several social service agencies is available when care management is needed. Other useful public programs such as meals on wheels, prescription drug programs (PACE), health insurance counseling (APPRISE), property & rent rebates, food stamps, neighborhood legal services, low income energy assistance (LIHEAP), and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) are available.
The center is located in a former Catholic schoool and is sponsored by the Allegheny County Department of Aging and the Benedictine Sisters Of Pittsburgh.
The theatre hours vary per event, but the senior center itself is open weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
