The institution that is now California University Of Pennsylvania began as an academy more than 150 years ago. It has evolved over the years until now it is a multi-purpose university. One of the fourteen state-owned institutions of higher education in the Pennsylvania State System Of Higher Education, it has the strength and stability of a university system, but it retains its own flavor and unique history.
The university operates a satellite campus at Southpointe Center where programs are geared to the needs of the population and businesses of the area. The state-of-the-art facility includes three state-of-the-art computer labs wired for instant online access, a library with electronic accessibility, and fiber optic connections for distance learning and video teleconferencing.
A remarkable new direction community development, Southpointe provides a “business home” for more than 140 diversified businesses and 5,000 employees in distinctive Class A commercial buildings. Businesses are integrated with retail space, a hotel and conference center, health and fitness and recreation centers, restaurants, medical facilities, and family living.
The campus' general operating hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
