Located in the trendy Bloomfield area of Pittsburgh, Grasso Roberto is an eclectic cafe where many sip cappuccino or espresso and college students buy fresh panini sandwiches. Featuring traditional fare such as biscotti and Italian pastries, Grasso Roberto is also home of the much-coveted Genovese sandwich, a delectable combination of smoked turkey, pesto mayonnaise, baby greens and tomato.
The bistro has preserved its frozen dessert parlor roots, serving homemade gelato (italian ice cream) and homemade italian ices. It is not uncommon, when settling with a gelato, to hear old-timers reminiscing about the Old Country.
The coffee selection is sprawling: lattes, cafe mocha, cappuccino doppio and warm chai. One of Bloomfield's most intrepid businesses, Grasso Roberto is a tradition in the making.
