Description

Founded by Marie Teets, Comtra Theatre is an intimate, in-the-round community theater located in a former barn in rural Butler County.

Initially known as the "East West Players" (named for the restaurant that was behind it), shows were presented in a tent located next door at Piazza Plaza, next to the former Cranberry Post Office. Audiences would have dinner, then sit on bleachers in the tent and watch shows.

In 1983, Marie bought the old barn next to the post office with financial help from her mother, and in July of that year presented "Guys & Dolls," the first show in the new facility.
