Windber Medical Center is a Planetree hospital dedicated to patient-centered innovations in healthcare delivery that focus on mind, body and spirit. The Somerset County facility is one of the premier sites in the U.S. offering the Dr. Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The center operates the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center in conjunction with Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the Regional Integrative Health Center and HealthStyles fitness program. In 2001, the Windber Research Institute opened, hiring leading scientists in the fields of functional genomics, proteomics and experimental therapeutics.

The Institute Of Integrative Medicine at Windber Medical Center is known nationally as a center for excellence offers a family of therapies with roots in ancient healing traditions as well as modern science. Services and programs include Aromatherapy, Guided Imagery, Guided Labyrinth Walks, Therapeutic Music, Reiki, Therapeutic Massage, Health Rhythms Group Empowerment Drumming and much, much more.
