Description

State College is a town of some 39,000 people best known as home to the main campus of the Pennsylvania State University (often called "Penn State").

State College evolved from village to town to serve the needs of the fledgling Pennsylvania State College, founded as the Farmers' High School Of Pennsylvania in 1855. Since then, the school and town have grown organically together and today Penn State is a major university.

The town's business district is centered on the paralel College Avenue and Beaver Avenue. Here you will find hundreds of shops, fine dinning, ethnic restaurants, seasonal festivals and much else besides.
