The company was founded by Robert "Bobby" Woodward Rahal, an American auto racing team owner and former driver who is a past winner of the Indianapolis 500. He also is co-owner of Rahal Letterman Racing, in partnership with comedian David Letterman, who became a minority owner in 1996.
