Adapted from the groundbreaking 1957 novel, this 2012 Brazilian-French film (in English) following two dudes as they cross cross the country from New York to Denver to San Francisco and back again, fueled by Benzedrine-laced tea, hot barroom jazz --- and the futile desire for more and more sensory pleasures.

The novel, by by American writer Jack Kerouac (1922-1969), is based on the travels of Kerouac and his friends across America. It is considered one of the best English-language novels of the 20th century.
