This exhibition feature photographs and other memorabilia to honor the role of African Americans in the Armed Forces during the Civil War period.
The American Civil War (1961-1965) had its origin in the fractious issue of slavery with four years of bloody combat (mostly in the slaves states that had seceded).
The exhibit explores their roles as soldiers, nurses and field doctors. The display includes a look at the U.S. Colored Troops, one of the first predominantly African American regiments in the U.S. Armed Forces. For more information, call (412) 255-2539.
