Learn how to Lindy Hop in a 6:30 p.m. class for beginners at 7:45 p.m. and another class at 8:30 p.m. for intermediate hoofers.
Lindy Hop is a form of swing dance that developed in Harlem in the 1920s. It is a fusion of many dances that preceded it or were popular during its development but is mainly based on jazz, tap, breakaway and Charleston. The dance's acrobatic air stepping garnered the name Lindy Hop in part from the fame of aviator Charles Lindbergh (1902-1974).
This session is part of a six-week program. No partner is needed and dancers will be rotated. All ages are welcome. Presented by Coal Country Traditions, a non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting and preserving traditional music and dance, particularly that of the south-western Pennsylvania region.
