Natalie Phillips, Assistant Professor of English at Michigan State University, uses the works of Jane Austin in this lecture to illustrate the emerging field of literary neuroscience --- a pioneering series of interdisciplinary experiments that use neuroscientific tools to explore the cognitive dynamics of literary reading.

Jane Austen (1775–1817) was an English novelist whose romantic fiction featured biting social commentary of the landed gentry.
