Set in the 1970s, this award winning 2012 film is about a loving gay couple (Alan Cumming and Garrett Dillahunt) trying to adopt an abandoned teenager with Down Syndrome --- despite the efforts of homophobic authorities.

Named after British physician John Langdon Down (1828-1896), Down Syndrome is the most common chromosome abnormality in humans and is typically associated with a delay in cognitive ability.
