Join the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra as different sections of the orchestra as they each tell their own unique stories.
Begun in 1958, the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra has over 60 volunteer musicians who are dedicated to providing quality music at a reasonable cost to the families of Southwest Pennsylvania.
The strings will perform English composer Gustav Holst's popular "St. Paul's Suite" and then will accompany harpist Rebecca Pfingstl for French composer Claude Debussy's "Sacred & Profane Dances." Czech composer Antonín Dvorak's "Serenade For Winds" features 10 wind instruments plus a cello and string bass. The evening will conclude with perhaps the greatest love story of all time, Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky's thrilling "Romeo & Juliet" overture.
