Brave New World: Technology In Popular Culture

Chuck Lanigan, a popular presenter at the library's People's University program, will examine the ways science fiction and popular films have influenced and reflected our view of technology.

He will discuss classic stories by authors Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, as well as recent films like "Bladerunner" and "The Matrix".

The audience will be invited to discuss the cultural significance of technology, their attitudes toward it as part of their daily lives and its promises and risks for the future. For more information, call (412) 622-3114.
