Chatham Baroque --- a local trio that performs lively interpretations of 17th and 18th century music --- is joined by twelve world-class singers and instrumentalists in a unique program of popular songs and dances from late 18th-century Peru that survive in an unlikely source, a collection of water color paintings.
These paintings were saved by Baltasar Jaime Martínez Compañón (1737-1797) a Spanish prelate who served as bishop in Peru during the 18th century.
Presented by the Renaissance & Baroque Society, which offers performances of the music of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque and Early Classical periods. For more information, call (412) 361-2048.
