[Void]: Absence Defines Being
Art Space 105  [ venue info ]
7/3/2010 through 7/28/2010

In this fascinating exhibition, artists Brenda Battad, Michelle Lee, Lindsay Merrill and Paul Rouphail present works that show a sweeping view of the landscape and the human memory that is at once both calm and dysfunctional.

The works are inspired by the concept of the void -- a place without true existence, a word describing emptiness, the lack of something and everything, all at once. In everyday lives, it is sometimes absence which defines our being, rather than what already exists. It is in our desires for want in what we lack, the persons who are no longer there. It is a want that drives our actions and habits to imminent disaster or catastrophe.

Presented by Steel Valley Arts Council, a not for profit arts organization serving the areas of Homestead, West Homestead and Munhall. For more information, call (412) 480-7246.
