2013 marks the 150 year anniversary of the Battle Of Gettysburg and the entire family is welcome to the library's grounds to mark the occasion.
The Battle Of Gettysburg was a key moment in the history of the American Civil War (1961-1965). It was hear that General George Gordon Meade's troops defeated attacks by Confederate General Robert E. Lee's forces --- thus ending Lee's invasion of the North.
Activities include tours of the Capt. Thomas Espy Post No. 153 of the Grand Army Of The Republic, a living history encampment, a showing of the film "Red Badge Of Courage", a talk by historian, Jonathan Neu, on site genealogy research with Diane Klinefelter and a concert of period music performed on period instruments by the Pittsburgh Historical Music Society with readings by Marilyn Sorvis of letters written by her grandfather during the Civil War.
