PNC Financial Services Group named J. Williams Mills III president of its Philadelphia and southern New Jersey market. Richard L. Smoot, current regional president and chief executive officer, will remain chairman of PNC's regional advisory board in Philadelphia and southern New Jersey.

Biotechnology

Infectech Inc. has named Jon Perdue vice president of business development.

Terence Brady has been promoted to vice president of human resources at Cellomics Inc.

Communications, Consulting

Bethany Dukate joined the Pittsburgh office of Magnet Communications as an account coordinator. Kathleen Brenneman has joined CommuniTech as a public relations specialist.

Kevin King was named public sector global leader of health and human services at Deloitte Consulting.

Health and Medicine

Dr. David L. Kaufmann has been appointed to the medical staff at Monongahela Valley Hospital and Regional Cancer Center.

Manufacturing

Changes in the executive management structure of the U.S. Steel Group of USX Corp. were announced. J. Paul Kadlic has been named executive vice president of sheet products. Kadlic succeeds Roy G. Dorrance, who will move into a newly created executive position and be responsible for new ventures currently under development. J. James Kutka Jr. has been appointed vice president of sales, sheet products; Donald L. Foster has been named vice president of international sales; Thomas W. Goettge has been appointed vice president of tin, tubular and plate; and Leonard H. Chuderewicz has been appointed vice president of raw materials.

Cold Metal Products Inc. announced the appointment of Steve Hartz to plant manager at CMP's Indianapolis facility.

Hotels

Mary Jo Germaine was named director of group sales at the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel. The hotel, located in the Fulton Building, will open in the spring.

DEC. 13, 1932

Demand was slow on the Pittsburgh wholesale produce market today.

The apple, onion and potato markets were steady. Cabbage was weaker.

DEC. 13, 1994

Westinghouse Electric Corp. has agreed to pay the federal government nearly $1.9 million for not telling the Air Force about a discount it could have gotten on a radar system, the Justice Department said.

The Air Force paid Westinghouse $10.2 million for spare parts for a radar system on AWACS aircraft in 1987.

In 1992, Westinghouse voluntarily reported its overpricing to the Pentagon inspector general and paid $258,030 as a partial reimbursement. The company will pay the remaining $1.625 million within 30 days, the department said.

David Hornig has joined ElderVision as vice president for product development.

Kings Family Restaurant hired John Mackey as general manager of its Fox Chapel restaurant and Tom Wolfe, general manager of its Wexford restaurant.

Jeffrey S. Blum has joined Deloitte & Touche as the director of multistate tax services in the Pittsburgh office's tax services practice.

Emprise Technologies announced a managed security services contract with H.J. Heinz Co., and Stargate has deployed its Internet security solutions to secure its e-business infrastructure.

MED300 Health Solutions announced an agreement to provide billing and ASP services to physician groups in the New Haven, Conn., area. The groups included in the arrangement are: the Orthopaedic Group, Internal Medicine of East Haven, GI & Internal Medicine of Orange and Chapel Street Pediatrics.

Medrad Inc. has been selected by NeoRad AS of Oslo, Norway, to be exclusive worldwide distributor of SimpliCT.

Mind Over Media has been contracted by Penn State University to provide all multimedia elements for its new All Sport Museum.

CommuniTech landed a new account with PowerLoom.

PWCampbell has been awarded the design/build contract by Andover Bank in Andover, Ohio.

DIVIDENDS

Allegheny Energy declared a quarterly dividend of 43 cents on its common stock, payable Dec. 29 to shareholders of record Monday.

HONORS

Dr. Elmer J. Holzinger, MACP, senior vice president for academic affairs and development at St. Francis Health System, was presented a letter of proclamation from Gov. Ridge and a Quality of Care Plaque at the Quality of Care Awards ceremony; he also was chosen as the recipient of the Health Care Foundation of New Jersey Humanism in Medicine Faculty Award.
