James Walker joined Jefferson Wells International.

Constance L. Eads, controller of the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh, has been elected 2000-01 vice president of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Architecture

Randy L. Snell, Philip M. Freeman and Tyrone L. Glover have joined L.D. Astorino Cos.

Perkins Eastman Architects promoted Stephen Quick to vice president; Deborah Przekop, Joseph Nagy and Mark Barnett were promoted to associates.

Dr. Yaw A. Boateng has been appointed to the medical staff at Butler Memorial Hospital.

William J. Miller Jr., chairman; Judy Ansill, vice chairman; and Alan R. Guttman, secretary, were re-elected to the Mon-Vale Health Resources Inc. board of directors and the hospital board of trustees. Dr. Michal Lementowski and John D. Fry were elected to fill vacancies on the hospital board.

John Bogdan, nurse manager of the Mental Health Unit at Monongahela Valley Hospital, has been appointed to a three-year term on the Washington County Mental Health Association's board of directors.

Dr. Philip Caushaj, chairman of the department of surgery at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Pittsburgh Surgical Society.

Paul Giovanini joined Interstate Hotels Corp. as regional director of operations.

Joe Warnagiris has been promoted to assistant vice president of customer service and operations at JDWarren Inc.

James E. Muldoon, a Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel vice president and vice president of Wheeling Corrugating Co., has been named to the newly created position of WCC division president. Terry C. French was named vice president of commercial and Lutz Albrecht was named vice president of operations.

The Westmoreland County Manufacturers Association named its board of trustees for 2000-01. Bradley E. Smith, Thomas M. Rosswog, Sarah Watkins, Mary Lynn Seremet, Michael J. Ansell and Scott W. Summits.

Nonprofit

Ursuline Services Inc. has named its board officers. James Bartolomucci, chairman; Alicia M. Hawkins, re-elected vice chair and secretary; and Adrian R. Fenton, treasurer.

Rebecca Residence announced the election of new members to its board: Janet McCarthy, Morgan Kronk, Thomas Dick and Marian Bradley.

The Pittsburgh Foundation announced the appointment of Jeanne Pearlman as senior program officer for Arts, Culture and Humanities.

Richard V. Piacentini, executive director of Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, was re-elected to the board of the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta. He will serve as treasurer.

The Wesley Institute Inc. board of trustees has named Karen Kutzer to a three-year term, and the Wesley Foundation of Pittsburgh has named Todd Cover to its board of directors.

Patrick Rooney, Richard Heller and Louis Longo have been admitted to the partnership of Deloitte & Touche. Gregory Forsythe and Joseph D. Zenk have been named firm directors in the valuation and financial advisory services practice.

Apex Environmental Inc. opened a new office in Memphis, Tenn.

A 12,000-square-foot, 412-seat adaptation of Ponderosa Steakhouse's new prototype restaurant has opened at 120 Sara Way, Rostraver Square, Belle Vernon.

Designer Furniture Outlet will open today in The Point at North Fayette.

Kohl's Department Stores will open a new store at Cranberry Commons, 1717 Route 228, Cranberry, on Aug. 18.

Contracts

Perkins Eastman Architects was awarded a contract to provide architectural services to the Pittsburgh Board of Public Education for the Homewood-Brushton Elementary School project.

CommuniTech has a six-month retainer contract with UPMC Health Plan to assist with marketing initiatives.

Marmion Advertising has been selected by Great American Federal Savings & Loan to handle marketing and advertising.

PWCampbell has been awarded the design/build contract by The Narnia Group in Warren, Warren County, and a design/build contract by The Sherwood State Bank in Sherwood, Ohio.

Burns & Scalo Roofing Co. was awarded a contract for gutter removal and replacement work on the Fine Arts Building at Carnegie Mellon University.

Deere & Co. said it would buy $150 million of goods over FreeMarkets Inc.'s Internet exchange in the next year.

Dick Corp. has been awarded a second contract for a construction project on the Route 30 Bypass in Lancaster. The project is worth $87.4 million.

IMS Messsysteme GmbH, Germany, and its North American subsidiary, IMS Systems Inc. have secured a contract for a multichannel tube thickness measuring system, including radioactive sources. Installation of the nine-channel gauge at Timken's Gambrinus Steel Plan, No. 3 Tube Mill, in Canton, Ohio, is planned for next August.

NKK Steel Engineering Inc., a U.S. Subsidiary of NKK Corp. of Japan, said the plant engineering division of NKK has been awarded an order to supply its new fingerless shaft electric arc furnace to Kishiwada Steel Co. Ltd., located in the Kansai area, near Osaka, Japan.

Wabtec Corp. has signed international contracts totaling nearly $12 million for projects in the United Kingdom, Chile and Australia.


Dividends

Prestige Bancorp Inc. declared a cash dividend of 7 cents per share, payable Sept. 15 to shareholders of record Sept. 1.

Wabtec Corp. declared a regular quarterly dividend of 1 cent per share, payable Aug. 31 to stockholders of record next Tuesday.
