![]() Film 'Intruder' supports book project
Monday, February 10, 2003
In conjunction with the "One Book, One Community" project, this week's film festival offering at Northland Public Library is the critically acclaimed, rarely shown classic "The Intruder," which shares the themes of "To Kill a Mockingbird," the book everyone in the county is being encouraged to read and discuss.
Based on Charles Beaumont's 1959 short story about desegregation and prejudice, the 1961 film darkly portrays the disintegration of a small Southern town faced with a charismatic Pied Piper of hate, played by William Shatner.
The film is at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Northland Public Library, 300 Cumberland Road, McCandless.
For information on this and other "One Book One Community" events at Northland call 412-366-8100 or visit the Allegheny County Library Association's Web site (http://www.carnegielibrary.org/onebook) for offerings throughout the county.
